HOSPITALITY
(HOW AND WHEN TO VISIT US)

"Let all guests who arrive be received like Christ, for He is going to say, "I came as a guest, and you received Me."/Chp. 53, Rule of St. Benedict

Through our ministry of hospitality, we share the good news of God’s love with all who come to our door.   Historically monasteries provided places of refuge and spiritual renewal to pilgrims, travelers, the sick and the poor.  Monasteries today are reclaiming their role as haven for modern day pilgrims and the spiritually poor trying to make their way in a secular world.

Guests, both men and women, are welcome at all times of the year, whether for a few days or a few hours.  A guest might be someone needing to refuel or revive his or her spiritual life.  A guest might be a woman felt drawn to religious life.  A guest might be a friend or relative of one of the Sisters.

Guests are invited to share in the prayer life of the monastery and eat the main meal of the day with the monastic community.

We have provided guest quarters in our monastery for those who would like an extended visit.  A hermitage is also available for someone seeking a deeper experience of silence and solitude.

Private and Directed Retreats

For those guests requesting a period of seclusion and silence, we have private and/or directed retreats open to persons of all denominations. Accommodations include rooms with one or two twin beds, one room with a double bed, and a hermitage. The hermitage is a self- contained building on the monastery grounds, separate from the main building with a small kitchenette, bathroom with shower, and living/bed room. The retreatant is invited to join the sisters for Liturgy of the Hours and Eucharist. The main meal of the day may be taken in the monastery dining room with the community. The other two meals are taken privately. Private retreatants select their own material to use. Directed retreatants meet daily with a member of the monastic community to receive Scripture texts and selections from spiritual classics for the next day's prayer and (after the first day) to reflect on the prayer experiences of the previous day.

Special Groups:

If you and your group would like to schedule a retreat with us, we can plan a program to meet your needs or we will be happy to host you and your presenter.

We will gladly provide a list of suggested donations which will help meet expenses. Those blessed with more may wish to contribute more; those who have less may give less. Spiritual direction, counseling and mentoring are also available by appointment.

To arrange a visit, simply contact the monastery by phone. Sr. Hildegard, our retreat director will be happy to help you.
